Embroidery and Trademarks?

So ive been looking for a specific hat for a long time, and i cant find it anywhere. I finally decided to just go out and buy a blank flat billed hat (the style i wanted) and get it embroidered somewhere. I went to Lids to buy the hat and i knew that they did their own embroidering yet i also knew that what i wanted was going to pose a problem due to the fact that what i wanted was the NHL logo...trademarking issues and whatever. Im thinking just because lids is a well known large company that theyre scared of a lawsuit but i was basically wondering if i would have this same "trademark" issue at more of an independant little embroidery place?
